We want UBC to be a leader in addressing climate change.

While UBC calls itself a global leader in "advancing a civil and sustainable society," its investments in the fossil fuel industry directly support the status quo of climate inaction, rather than supporting steps towards a more sustainable future for the UBC community. Demonstrating excellence in “all aspects of economic, environmental, and social sustainability” necessitates that UBC divest from fossil fuels.

Fossil fuel divestment is an official policy of the AMS and was voted for by 76.9% of students and 62% of faculty in University wide referendums.

Help us call for climate action and help UBC!

  1. Join UBCC350 and help us convince UBC to strengthen its climate commitments. We welcome all students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to join the campaign!
  2. Pledge to divest your personal holdings from fossil fuels. Consider closing accounts with banks that finance tar sands and pipelines, including CIBC, RBC, Scotiabank and TD and opening fossil free investment accounts, such as CoPower Green Bonds, Vancity’s Global Equity Fund or one of Genus Capital’s portfolios.
